I have a surprise...

For the world.
It's not as big as you might think is (that's what she said), but I'm going to need beta feedback sometime this year. Details to follow!

I just took a tile from a website (forget where) and added some lighting and edited colors.

First day of classes already challenge me...
Aug. 27th, 2008 | 10:54 am
Not necessarily because the topics are hard, but the TA's here SUCK. The professors are awesome, but the TAs are graduate students who probably haven't socialized with anyone in the past 20+years of their lives, because they are so introvert and expect us to solve every problem.
I don't have much time to post - I just made an update because I wanted to say that Brenda is a creep.

Welcome to Carnegie Mellon!
Aug. 20th, 2008 | 11:43 pm
All I have to say is wow. So far the Orientation week in Carnegie Mellon was far beyond what my expectations were. The motto was "breakin' the mold." If you're interested in reading my now far too infrequent entries, stick around!
CMU's orientation program helped me break my mold. The events that the OCs (orientation counselors) and the House Fellows, as well as everyone else helped out with essentially forced us to introduce ourselves to students from other states, and even other countries. If you haven't noticed, it takes a while for me to make friendships. Once I become friends with people, I love all of them, but it takes me a damn long time to get over that introduction phase. That's where CMU stepped in.
CMU is definitely a new environment for me - a place of unfamiliarity, a place to explore, a place with people my age who are in similar positions. It's a new territory! I'll be honest, I had a moment of fear, thinking that I wouldn't make friends. Fortunately, I was dead wrong - I was placed into definitely the best dorm floor, a floor full of students willing to share interests. We became friends the first day.
It was the second day I decided to fuck it all -- I decided to go meet new people. It's awkward, but I surely don't want to be doing it in the middle of November. Imagine how awkward it'd be then. People at CMU are willing to meet other people, a characteristic probably common in many other colleges.
Oh for the record, I'm not doing any revisions in this entry. Wayyyy too lazy to edit. Sorry for the lack of flow!
It's still a work in progress. To be realistic, I won't be meeting every student in CMU. But as my friend Alex had already done, I'm making a checklist to be completed during my stay in CMU: break out of my shell and find people to hang with; remember names; find the right girlfriend (but it's okay if I don't!); break that fucking mold of mine.
If there are any high schoolers reading this who are worried about college life, this is coming from me, one of the shyest guys on Long Island. It's a great experience. Oh I hope I find a girlfriend.
Of course, this was just my experience. But my point is that if you just put in the minimal effort, it's guaranteed that you'll make friends in college. Even kids like me!

I'm taking the 100 pushups program.

I just completed the first day of the first week, and I must admit, even just 46 push ups is tough for me. I'm really not in shape at all. Anyway, I'm determined to complete it, even if it means going out of my way of studying. I'll be trying to keep progress in my livejournal :)
I've still yet to make that final entry about graduation... maybe I'll get to it later.
I leave the 16th!

Let's try to explain this in simple terms.. mainly because I can't explain it with professional language. All the ISPs like Optimum Online and Verizon are working together to turn your internet service into something like cable packages. Take this for instance; a basic package will get you 20 sites like msn, yahoo, and aol. An upgraded package for $30 per month will get you couple of extra sites like www.google.com. Myspace won't be available until you get the $50 package.
Think about it.
Do you want to lose control of what you visit? It's your connection. You're paying for it. Why should you be limited in the sites you can see? The Internet is the gateway to seemingly-infinite sources of information.
This will take place as soon as 12 years.
You do not want this to happen. You lose myspace. You lose facebook. Say your farewells to livejournal.

This will revolutionize high school concerts.

Apparently, this works because...
"When babies are still in the womb, the noises they can hear are limited to those in the 6000-8000mHz range. The sound you make when you slosh the liquid behind your lips during wine tasting takes place at about 7000mHz, reminding the baby of a time when the world around was peaceful and the whirs and stirs inside Mommy's tummy soothed him back to a sleepy state."
